Deckchairs
August 5, 2007
Deckchairs are a typically British sight in the summer, and although this summer has been especially bad weather-wise, this project is quite interesting.
For the Royal Parks in London, various artists, pop-stars and school children have been asked to provide designs for the chairs. Usually blue and white stripes, the deckchairs are now a variety of patterns drawings and designs.
I like the Damien Hirst butterfly one best - there are pink (girls) and blue (boys) versions, but I couldn't find any blue ones when I walked through St James' Park yesterday. Maybe people were already sitting on them.
To rent a chair costs £2 for 4 hours. Limited numbers of these chairs were also available to buy too, but I'm not sure how many are left now...
