Gormley
March 7, 2008
New Antony Gormley show opened today at The White Cube Mason's Yard.
No photos inside, so the picture on the postcard features a close-up of the main work, 'Firmament'.
On the street level gallery there are 32 cast figures which the viewer can wander around. All are standing, but some are on the ceiling, some on the walls and some on the floor.
Downstairs, 'Firmament' is a giant sculpture somewhat like a drawing or a matrix that the viewer can walk under, past and through and is able to see all joins and angles.
It feels like there are a lot of Gormley works around the UK now, in all different places. I wonder if his work is popular overseas too.
