Neighborhood is having their store renewal opening this coming weekend and Takizawa asked me to contribute. I have always known Takizawa to be a dog person, so I decided to base my drawing off of that.

East of Havana
February 4, 2007
Last night I went to see the NY premiere of East of Havana, that was co-written and directed by my friend Jauretsi. It tells the story of Hip Hop in Cuba seen through the lives of a few young people who create music together as way to escape the limitations of their environment imposed by the Cuban government.
It was a unique insight into a world that many Americans seldom get to see.

It's playing all this week at the IFC Center at W. 4th & Sixth Ave., and if you are in NYC you should take the time to see it.
Google it to learn more or check out their myspace page.

INFOBABBLE

I took a day trip this past Tuesday to the Purchase(NY) School of Art+Design to check out an exhibition I was a part of along with artists Cynthia Connolly, Shepard Fairey, Mike Mills, and Stephen Powers, and curated by Aaron Rose.

I knew I reached the campus when we saw the sign of the college grad with a spray painted joint coming out of it's mouth.

For the show, I dug into my flat files for some ads from the 90's and this is what I found. I stole these when I was in Paris and the one for "L'EXPRESS" was up on the street in Manhattan for over a week.

TODAY (Thursday 2/1)
I visted Scott Campbell at his studio which is only a few streets away from mine.
He's doing a lot of great new work and recently bought this laser machine that he has been throwing just about anything that could fit into it and then lasering graphics onto it. Before I went over he told me to bring some graphics to try it out. I chose to put my laptop in the machine hoping it would(n't) melt.
