トム・ブラウンが事務所に遊びに来てくれました。
初めて会ったのは、NYでプレスをお願いしているカレイドスコープのミキさんが
NYのアトリエに連れて行ってくれたときでした。確か、2002年だったと思います。
その頃から今のスタイルで、なんだかすごく新鮮でした。今や大スターですね。
シャイな感じ、すごく好きです。今度はNYで逢いましょう。
Thom Browne came by our office. I believe the first time I met him was in 2002,
when Miki of Kaleidoscope, who takes care of our press in NY, took me to his studio.
He always wore this style, which I found so refreshing. He is now a big star.
I find his shyness charming. Hope to see you in NY the nex time.
AOMI PROJECT 2010「the SOHO」

先日、AOMI PROJECT 2010「the SOHO」のプレス発表会がありました。
There was a press conference for AOMI PROJECT 2010 "the SOHO", an office complex.
トランジットの中村さんがブランディングプロデュースを行うこのプロジェクトは、
地上１３階、地下１FからなるSOHOビルディングです。海の目の前という最高のロケーション。
僕は、建築デザインディレクションと共用部分のインテリアデザインなどを担当します。
Mr. Nakamura, a branding specialist will be producing this project which will consist of 14 floors,
basement level to 13 floors above ground. It will be at a great location facing the ocean.
I will be taking care of the architectural design direction and interior design for the common areas.

ARICA

先日打ち合わせでトランジット中村さんが着ていたTシャツが気になったので
どこで買ったの？と聞いたら、グランドオープンしたてのARICAの社長、
百太郎こと平本さんを連れて遊びに来てくれました。
Mr. Nakamura from Transit came by with Mr. Hirayama, aka
Hyakutaro, the president of ARICA which recently opened.
When I saw Mr. Nakamura at a meeting the other day
I noticed that he had an interesting T-shit on,
and it turned out to be from ARICA.

写真もデザイナーの松井英樹さんが撮っているとのこと。
グラフィックの面白さと、プリントの凝り方、とてもラグジュアリーです。
今度はちゃんとARICAに買いに行きますね。

Hideki Matsui (no relation to the baseball player).
From the printing technique to the amazing graphic design,
this is a luxurious T-shirt. I will certainly come and shop at ARICA soon.
パリ出張 #3・Business Trip to Paris #3

最終日。朝から現場で打ち合わせ。
その後、急遽帰国日を変更してこの朝4:00の便でかえってきてくれたJean。
ランチに呼んでもらいました。
Last day. Site meeting in the morning.
Later, we were invited to Jean's home for lunch.
He changed his flight at the last minute and returned to Paris on
a flight that arrived at 4am that day.

ランチの後、アパートの中を案内してもらいました。案内役はジャンとリリーちゃん。
Tour of the apartment after lunch. Jean and Lilly were the guides.
お城と現代建築が合体した建物で、パリでも珍しい様式だそうです。
The building is made of an old Castle and a modern structure,
which apparently is very unique architecture, even in Paris,

Lead by tour guides Jean and Lilly, we went to swimming pool in
the basement.
時間が止まっていました。タイムスリップした様な空間。
天井のダクトも良い感じ。でも、これは装飾で機能はしていないそうです。
60年代にこういう事する人がいたんですね。
I felt like I was in a time warp. The space looked like somewhere
in another time.
The ducts in the ceiling looked great, but apparently they are
just for decoration and have no function.
Good to know there was a person who plays with 60's decoration.
廊下のデザインは、少し和っぽいんです。
Hallway has kind of Japanese taste.
ツアーの後は息子さんも合流して、デザートタイム。
Dessert time after the tour. Jean’s son joined for that.
部屋にもお宝がいっぱいです。
まず、ジャンの子供の頃の写真。面影在ります。
The room was full of treasures. First a photo of little Jean.
You definitely see the same traces of his features.
He must have been a little rascal.
いくつかの打ち合わせを兼ねていたのですが、
大量にジャンの写真が撮れた出張でした。
Though I had several meetings with different clients in Paris.
I brought back many pictures of Jean.

FPMの田中さんに呼んで頂いて東京FM TOKYO MELTING POTにゲスト出演しました。
最初にお逢いしたのはずうずうしくも僕の作品集の出版パーティーでの
DJのお願いをした時。２冊目の出版準備をしているので、
またよろしくお願いします！
田中さんと福田明子さんが良いムードをつくってくれたので
楽しくリラックスしてしゃべれました。
今夜８時からオンエアーです。良かったら聞いてください。

Mr. Tanaka of FPM invited me as a guest on Tokyo FM "TOKYO MELTING POT".
The first time we met was when he DJ'd for the launch party for my first monograph,
Wonderwall Masamichi Katayama Projects. Mr. Tanaka, I have started working on my
second one, so I hope you'll be able to DJ for us again!
The radio show went very smoothly and I actually had a great time
since Mr. Tanaka and Ms. Akiko Fukuda really put me at ease and
allowed me be relaxed and speak openly.
The show goes on air tonight at 8pm, so please tune in.

パリ出張 #2・Business Trip to Paris #2

翌日は、以前日本でコレットのサラに紹介してもらったPhilippe and
Brunoのアトリエに遊びに行ってきました。
We had a field trip to Philippe and Bruno's atlier. We met for the
first time in Tokyo through Sarah.
僕たちが座っているこのソファ。見覚えある方いませんか？

1958年に発表されたジャック・タチ監督「ぼくの伯父さん」に出てくるイスです。
映画の家具を再制作するにあたり彼らが招聘されたそうです。
撮影で使われた家具もスケッチも存在しなかった為、映像をベースに再生産するしかなく
かなり苦労したようですが、座り心地もばっちりでした。
This appeared in the movie "My Uncle"(1958) directed by Jacques Tati.

彼らの技術力の高さにびっくりです。
I was stunned by their incredible craftmanship.
最後のパリでの夕食は、これまたJeanおすすめのLe Voltaire.
Last dinner in Paris, Le Voltaire, again recommended by Jean.
上品なお店。通常のお席の他に、バーエリアがあり今回はそちらの席に。
すすめられていたペッパーステーキを食べました。おいしかった。
Chic restaurant. They have a regular dining area, and another
dining area in the bar. This time, we choose the one in the bar.
Jean recommended the Pepper Steak, and it was delicious.
パリ出張 #1・Business Trip to Paris #1

パリに行ってきました。
到着した日は、Jean＆Judith Touitouから教えてもらったLe Perronへ。
Another business trip to Paris.
The day I arrived, we went to Le Perron for dinner, recommended
Jean＆Judith Touitou.
８時に行きましたが、お店はがらがら。人気がない店なのかと不安になりましたが、
帰る頃には満席に。僕たちのディナータイムが少し早かったみたいです。
気取っていない良い感じの店でした。
The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived at 8pm, I
thought that we came to the wrong place,
but the place was completely full by the time we left. We were too
early for dinner time in Paris, I guess. Nice, unpretentious restaurant.
翌日は、打ち合わせの後にA.P.C.のオフィスへ。
The following day, we had a meeting. After that, we headed to the
A.P.C. office.
このときJean＆Judithは日本に出張中だったので、Catherineに案内してもらいました。
Catherine gave us a office tour since Jean&Judith were in Japan at that time.
そしてこの人がCatherine。ものすごく陽気で楽しい人です。
そして、常に動いている印象。写真が撮れない人です（笑）
This is Catherine. A very warm and fun person.
Hard to capture a still image of this, but she is very busy and
always doing something.
