写真は取り損ねてしまったのですが、colette & Wonderwall Partyと書かれた
白いリムジンが用意されていました。それに乗って、LE REGINEへ移動.
I did not take a photo but there was a white stretch limo with
'colette & Wonderwall party' on it. We had a nice drive to LE REGINE.

リムジンでは、ディナーに出席してくれたエルジャポン編集長の森さんも
一緒でした。
Mori-san, editor in chief of Elle Japon, also dinner attendant, were
in the same Limo ride.

DJのラインアップも豪華！FPM田中さん、NIGOさん、KITSUNEと、
JBAG以外は知り合いで、アウェーな感じがしなくて心強よかったです。
みなさん、本当にありがとうございました。

田中さんと、NIGOさんとも写真取りたかったのですが、なんだか
照れてしまって写真撮れず。残念。

見た目は哲学とか語りそうですが（実際に語るんですけどね。。）、
パーティーも楽しめるタイプ！僕らが帰えった朝方にまだ飲んでいました。
He looks like he would start talking about philosophy (actually he would),
but he also enjoys partying! He was still drinking and having fun
by the time we left in the morning.

クラブでは、音も大きいからあまりゆっくり話もできなかったのですが、
数日後マレの古書店でばったり遭遇。パートナーのグンにも会えました。
I could not talk with him that much at the club because it was so loud,
But I run into him at the vintage book store in Marais a few days later.
It was such a great coincidence and I was also able to meet his partner, Gunn.

DJを終えたMasayaとダブルへんな顔。
After Masaya finished DJing , we took photo of two funny faces....

。。。のはずが、僕だけが変な顔？
But may be I am the only funny face?

アフターパーティーはNOKIAがスポンサーだったので、
NOKIAのロゴの前でパチリ。

We had really good champagne from Dom Perinion as well.

来てくれた皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。今回印刷所の関係で
ヨーロッパで先行発売し、その後アメリカで発売になりました。
日本はこれから発売です。12月初旬発売になります！
I would like to say thank you to all the guests who came to the party.
Book release started from Europe, and then the US. Next is Japan.

The day before I returned to Tokyo, I went to Florence and
Olivier's place for lunch. Thank you again for such a wonderful lunch.

それにしても羨ましいアトリエ。もともとはガラス等の裁断工場だったそうです。
Their atelier is to be envied. Apparently, it used to be a glass cutting factory.



足が黒のハーマンミラー、新鮮です。
Black legged Herman Miller, I did not know this color exists.

アトリエのベストチェアーを陣取るのはこの家の買われている柴犬。
Of course, the best chair in the office is being occupied
by one of their Shibaken.

これはどっちだろう、ハチ公？ビオレッタ？
I wonder which one this is, Hachi-ko or Violette?

パリの旅も終わりに近づいてきました。
My Paris trip is coming close to an end.

ラストディナーは、ジャンの家へ。
The evening before my return was a dinner at Jean's.

シェフ フランソワ・シモンによるスペシャルディナー！
日本でもご存知の方も多いと思いますが、LE FIGAROの食の評論家。顔出し不可です。

TV番組ももっていて、首から下だけ出演して、食について批評をする
らしい。。。。見てみたいです、その番組。写真を撮りたいと言ったら、
ふわっとナプキンをかぶって写真に納まってくれました。

It was a special dinner by 'chef' Francois Simon.
You may be familiar with Francois, but he is the food critic for LE FIGARO.

He never shows his face. Even on TV, he only allows the camera to shoot him
from the neck down. That's very foody, isn't. I'd love to see his show.
When I pulled out my camera, he threw a dishtowel over his head.

良い匂いが充満する部屋で、シェフの手元を覗き見。すっごい美味しい、
そして楽しいディナーでした。ジャン＆ジュディス、フランソワ、
そしてジュディスの友人カミーユと楽しくおしゃべりして最後の夜終了。
It was such a fun and delicious dinner. We ended my lasat evening in Paris
with such great conversations with Jean, Judith, Francois and Judith's friend Camille.

最終日。帰る前にクリストフ・ピエのアトリエへ。
サローネやパーティーでは会うのですが、ゆっくり話をしたのは久しぶり。
The day of my departure, before heading to the airport, I visited Christophe Pillet's
studio. We often see each other at the Salone del Mobile or at receptions,
but it's been a while since we had a chance to have a nice chat.

偶然全く同じロレックスの時計をしていたので記念にパチリ。
Coincidentally we wore the same watch.

ピエの事務所から歩いて、キツネのショールームへ。
After from Pillet's studio, we walked over to Kitsune's showroom.

置き土産をして、長い旅も終わり。
I left them a goody bag and my long launch journey was finished.

コレットのママ、サラ、マーク、ギョーム、アナイス、マルキエル、
素晴らしいパーティーをありがとう。

良いローンチになりました。作品集をデザインしてくれたgroovisions近藤さん、
物件の写真を撮影してくれた高山さん、編集の鈴木さん、翻訳の畑中さん、
ありがとうございました。

正直、気が引き締まる思いです。次は東京での発売です。

Tonight's dinner is prepared by Mr. Edakuni of Guilo Guilo in the
18th arrondissement. The final finishing touches before dinner
begins. There is tension in the air.

あとはお任せ。当日までどんな味になるのか楽しみにしていたのですが、
これがすごく美味しかったんです。この日だけでなく、また食べたい。。。
He created a special maccaron dessert for me called 'Pierre Herme
for Masamichi Katayama'.
I chose Macha and Azuki as my, he created this special flavor. I
tasted it for the first time this at the dinner, and it was really good.
I can eat this anytime....

到着した翌日、コレットで行なわれていたギャラリーのオープニングに参加。
分るでしょうか？中央の男性３人が着用しているのは、Wonderwall T shirtsです。
The day after I arrived, I attended a gallery opening at Colette.
I don't know if you will recognize them, but the three gentlemen are wearing
Wonderwall T-shirts.

グラフィックをgroovisions、ボディーはLOOPWHEELERの
おなじみのメンバーで作りました。良い感じです。
The T-shirts themselves are made by LOOPWHEELER and
the graphics are done by groovisions.

そして、お店チェック。実は今回初めて完成したコレットを見ました。
７週間という施工期間で、よくここまで出来たと思います。コレットミラクルですね。
Then, of course, I had to check the site. This was actually the first time
for me to see Colette since it reopened. I am still amazed that they completed
the construction in 7 weeks. This must be a Colette miracle.

反射して見えにくいですが、
ウィンドウ右側には本広監督に作って頂いた映像が流れています。
It may be difficult to see with the reflection, but there is a screen on the right side
playing the image directed by movie director Motohiro.

ワンダーウォール関連のTシャツをジャケットでスタイリング。
本も山盛り積まれています。

along with piles of the second Wonderwall monographs in the window.

写真は掲載出来ないのですが、パリに新しくオープンするユニクロの現場にもいきました。
僕がデザインしたインテリアの施工が始まるのはまだ先の話ですが、
空間のボリュームは良い感じです。良い店になりそうです。
I am not able to post the image, but I also went to see the site of the new Uniqlo Paris.
My portion of the interior work will not start until much later,
but I was able to get a good sense of the volume of the space.
I have a good feeling about this new store.

そして、現場からほど近いMasaya & Gildaのお店、KITSUNEへ。
Then, visited KITSUNE, Masaya & Gilda's store, close from the Uniqlo site.


二人らしい空間。さりげなく、素朴で、でもあったかい感じでした。
お店の子もかわいかった。
This space reflects their character. Unselfconscious, simple but warm.
The store staff were also stylish.

ジャケット、シャツ、靴を買いました。洋服も良い感じです。
I bought jacket, shirts and a pair of shoes. Clothes looks great as well.

雑誌で見て気になっていた、エッフェルタワーに出来たアラン・デュカスの店。
ふと思い立ってコンシェルジェに聞いてみたら、少なくとも３週間、
下手したら２ヶ月またないと予約は取れないと言われてしまいました。
でも、ダメもとで。。。と聞いてもらったら、なんと翌日の昼に予約がとれました！
すごくラッキーです。
I read about the new Alan Ducasse restaurant in the Eiffel Tower.
I asked the concierge at the hotel if we can get a reservation.
Then, they told me it usually takes 3 weeks, sometimes 2 months to get a reservation.
But I asked them to give a shot even if it sounds impossible....
Well lucky me. I was able to get a table for lunch the next day!

これが入り口。レストラン直通エレベーターです。
This is the entrance, lead us directly to restaurant.

なんと、急な予約にも関わらずすごくビューの良い席がとれていたんです。
I was so surprised by the table we got. It was one of the best window side table
even though it was a last minute reservation.

気持ち良い天気の中、ゆっくりした時間を過ごしました。
Nice, lovely weather, I had nice relaxing time.

店内は、パトリック ジュアンというフランスのデザイナーによるもの。
The interior was done by a French interior designer Patrick Jouin.

椅子もオリジナルでつくっていて、キャンティーレバーの斬新なスタイル。
不思議とマッチしていました。
Those chairs are custom-made with a daring cantilever style.

While honeyee was being revamped, I went to Australia.
Short and busy trip as always, I think I have absorbed many things.

Our second monograph "Wonderwall Masamichi Katayama Projects N°2" was published
launching at colette in Paris yesterday. Colette will install a window display featuring Wonderwall.

I had a meeting with Uichi Yamamoto.

It has been a while since we sat down for a meeting.
This was about the party we are throwing for the launch of our next monograph.

He took care of my party for first book, so I am counting on you!

僕は、タミヤのミニ四駆というモデルカーの装飾用ステッカーを平面に貼り合わせる
作品を購入しました。
I purchased a piece which uses stickers to decorate the Tamiya's 'Mini 4WD'
and layout them on the flat surface.

ランチを取りながら話をしていたら、まだ博士課程で数学を学んでいる学生さんだと
初めて知りました。数学とアート、似て非なるの逆で、どこか通じる所がある気がし
ます。タグボートでも取扱いが始まったそう。これからも期待しています。
がんばってください。
We spoke as we had lunch, and I learned for the first time that he is a
graduate student in Math. Math and Art, similar with dissimilarities,
but there is definitely a link between the two genres.
He mentioned that Tagboat will also be representing his pieces
their web store. Keep up the good work!

ロシアで唯一コルビジェによって建てられた「ロシア統計委員会」
Tsentrosoyuz Building, the only architecture bulit by Le Corbusier.

ソ連を代表する建築家の一人である、M・ギンズブルグとI・ミリニスによって
デザインされた賃貸住宅。
Rental housing constructed by M. Ginzburg and I. Milinis.



今はぼろぼろになっていますが、共産主義を象徴する建築の構成で成り立っています。
住居部と別棟にパブリックスペースがあり、そこに食堂や洗濯室があるそうで
す。すごいシンプルな中に、思想が盛り込まれているビルです。
This is a battered building now, but the structural layout is based on
symbolic communist ideology. Residential and public areas are separated.
In the common area, there was a dining room and a laundry room.
A well thought out building.

建築家ヴェスニン兄弟の最高傑作、ジル工場文化宮殿。
ZIL Palace of Culture, one of Vesnin brothers' masterpiece.






いわゆる文化会館だったようです。写真では分りにくいですが、
すごくゆったりとしたランドスケープで、豊かな空間構成が広がっています。
This used be a cultural center. The photo does not show the landscape,
but it was an abundant amount of landscaped space .

スターリンスタイルで作られた高層ビルのひとつ。
コテーリニチェスカヤ河岸通りの高層アパート。
共通しているのは、中心がとんがっているデザイン。
One example of a Stalin Style high rise residential building
on Kotelnicheskaya embankment, based on pinpointed top.


ソビエトユニオン時代には、こういうアパートに有能な芸術家を住まわせてい
たそうです。中には映画館や食料品店があるそうです。プロパガンダに協力し
た芸術家がみんなここに住んでいたんでしょうね。
During the Soviet Union period, these apartments were occupied with
talented artists. There is a movie theater and a grocery store.
Artist who supported the Propaganda must have lived here.

よく見ると、プロパガンダを象徴する様な彫刻が至る所にあります。
If you take a close look, you will find engravings which reflect
propaganda movement.

同じくスターリンスタイルのビルで、ロシア連邦外務省ビル。
Ministry of Foreign Affairs building another Stalin Style building.


入り口のドアが、すごく今っぽいというか、ロックを感じさせるドアのデザイ
ンです。これもプロパガンダを強く感じる力強いデザイン。
The entrance door looked very contemporary in some ways. Kind of "rock'n roll".
This is another building designed with that strong sense from the
propaganda period.

A.P.C. KITA-AOYAMA has opened in Kita-Aoayama.

先日ミーティングの為にモスクワに行ってきました。
もちろん初めてのモスクワで、どんな街なのか不安と期待を持って行ってきました。
4日間の滞在で、街をリーサーチした時に撮影した写真をかいつまんでご紹介
したいと思います。

I finally organized the photos from my trip to Russia!

I was in Moscow on a business trip. Of course, it was my first time
ever to Moscow, and I was full of mixed feelings of both excitement and anxiety.
The trip was four days, and these are photos I took during my research around
the city.

まず、「赤の広場」。
First of all the 'Red Square'.

周りを見回すと不思議な建物がいっぱいです。
Surrounded by unique buildings.

よくよく考えたら、ここはロシア連邦。
いろんなカルチャーが入り乱れていて当然なんですよね。
This is Russia, but officially it is called 'Russian Federation'.
So, of course, that is why we see different cultures within one country.

赤の広場に建つ、ポクローフスキー大聖堂(聖ワシリイ大聖堂)。
Saint Basil's Cathedral in the Red Square.

街のいたる所にソビエト共和国の名残がいっぱいあります。
We see traces of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics here and there.




もちろん、レーニン像、スターリン像。
Of course, statues of Lenin and Stalin.

いかにもという独特な彫刻。
A quintessentially Russian sculpture.

モスクワの地下鉄が美しいとは聞いていたのですが、実際に足を運ぶとイメージ以上に
素晴らしい地下鉄構内。象徴的なプラットフォームを２カ所みせてもらいました。
Someone told me that the subway stations in Moscow are beautiful, but
it was beyond my expectation. I visited two symbolic subway platforms.



クラースヌィエ・ヴォロータ駅構内。プラットフォーム自体がひとつの彫刻と
言える美しさと完成度です。
Krasniye Vorota Station.
Such a high degree of perfection, the platform is one beautiful sculpture.

列柱に彫刻があり、触ると幸せになれるという彫刻の犬がいました。
There was a sculpture in the column, and I was told that this dog will
bring you happiness if you touch him.


みんな触っているので、鼻先と足としっぽ（かな？）のブロンズがはげていました。
The bronze on his nose, foot, and tail were worn down...

マヤコーフスカヤ駅。ここも同じく非常に美しい駅です。
Mayakovskaya Station. Another beautiful station.


駅ごとにデザインが違うらしいので、時間が許せば全部みて回りたかったです。
I wish I had time to visit all the stations since each of them were distinctly designed.

Shawn Stussy、M Coleman Horn、ループウィラー鈴木さんとご飯にいきました。
Shawn Stussyは名前からもわかる通り、Stussyをスタートさせた人です。
すでに会社は売却していて、ブランドには関わっていません。
名刺を持っていなかった彼が鈴木さんに手書きで連絡先を書いた所、まさに
Stussyのブラドロゴのあの筆跡だったそうです！
I had dinner with Shawn Stussy, M Coleman Horn, and Suzuki-san of
LOOPWHEELER. As the name suggests, Shawn Stussy is the one who
started the brand Stussy, but he has sold the company and is not involved in the
business now.When he wrote down his contact information for Suzuki-san
since he did not have a business card, his hand-writing was exactly
the same as the brand logo for Stussy!

とにかくよくしゃべる（笑）。なんだか楽しいディナーでした。
He is a talkative man. It was a fun dinner.

初めてモスクワにもいきました。大量に写真をとったので、今選んでいます。
少ししたらアップしますね。
I went to Moscow for the first time. I took enormous amount of
photos,so I am working on which one to post on the blog. They will be
posted soon.

パリにも行ってきました。
WWDにも出ていましたが、今パリのコレットの全面改装を手掛けています。
８月末頃には再オープンの予定です。楽しみにしていてください。
I also went to Paris. As you might already know from WWD,
I am working on the project to renovate colette in Paris.




見事に打合せだけの出張でした。
Perfect business trip only with meetings.

思い起こせば、1998年の原宿店を皮切りにあっという間に10年のお付き合いです。
今までリニューアル等も全部含めて50件以上をデザインさせて貰いました。
どんどん進化するBAPE(R)が、これから更に楽しみです。
NIGO(R)さんを見ていると、僕もがんばらなくちゃと思います。
To come to think of it, it's been 10 years since I designed the BAPE store in Harajuku back in 1998.
Since then including renovations and additions,
I've had the fortune to design more than 50 projects with them.
I look forward to seeing how the BAPE(R) brand will further evolve.
Watching NIGO(R) evolve and grow his business inspires me to push forward.

アフターバーティーで、THE ICE CREAM STORE(TM)でお世話になった
Pharrell Williamsと。たまたまバースデーだったようで、記念にパチリ。
At the after party, I ran into Pharrell Williams whom I had a chance to work with
for THE ICE CREAM STORE(TM). It also happened to be his birthday.
