Believe the Hype!!!!!!!

May 18, 2006

Back
Caught you lookin' for the same thing
It's a new thing - check out this I bring..........

Ok party people; you might of seen them before?????
But, now u can scoop em up....

This Friday May 19th, Nothin' can stop the bum rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a second to ask James Jebbia about the new kicks......

Pm: Did u work with Chuck D at all?
JJ: Yeah, we approached him with the project, he liked it & we took it from there.

Pm: If so in what capacity?
JJ: In a real simple way, we went back & forth on the design a few times until he
saw what he liked & signed off.
He was also very adamant that they retail for less than $100,
He isn't into kids spending tons of loot on sneakers.

Pm: PE has many great lyrics, why this quote?
JJ: Its probably they're most iconic & powerful quote.

Pm: Vans have crossed over into urban (I hate that word but you know what I mean) now?
Do you have any thoughts on why, and do u think the PE shoe will hit
The B Boy????
JJ: People don't feel that they need to conform to any particular dress style,
They are open to new shit, it used to be cool to dress like all of your friends,
now it's cooler if you have your own style.

Also Ape has definitely helped open a lot of people's eye's to more than
Just the typical urban brands like Sean John & Echo ect,
so I think that has helped open things up a lot.

Pm: Why are one hip-hop and the other 80's skate/ BMX?
JJ: No reason just came together that way.

Pm: Both shoes are based in the past in their classic style and design mixed
with your flip.
Why did you choose to look back? Was that time more creative or
interesting too you?
JJ: A lot of what we do design wise has its roots & influence in the late 80s
& early to mid 90s, since day one really,im not sure if it was a more creative
time than now but it sure seems that way.

Don't believe the hype - it’s a sequel
As an equal, can i get this through to you
My 98's boomin' with a trunk of funk
All the jealous punks can't stop the dunk
Comin' from the school of hard knocks
Some perpetrate, they drink clorox

These kicks are a sequel to the Blazers.
An equal in a great line up of quality and thoughtful design.
