'Cocaine' drink claims to be real thing'
September 22, 2006

Anti-drug campaigners today attacked the makers of a soft drink who have called their product cocaine.
The high-energy drink is being billed as a "legal alternative" to the class A drug, using a massive hit of caffeine instead of cocaine.
Its maker claims the title is "a bit of fun" but critics slammed the technique as a cynical ploy which could tempt young people into using drugs.
The drink's inventor, Jamie Kirby, said: "It's an energy drink, and it's a fun name. As soon as people look at the can, they smile."
He claims Cocaine is "350 percent stronger than Red Bull" but that people do not experience the "sugar crash" or jitters that he says some of the other energy drinks can produce.
But David Raynes, of the UK National Drug Prevention Alliance, said: "It is people exploiting drugs. It is a pretty cynical tactic exploiting illegal drugs for their own benefit."
Las Vegas-based drinks company Redux Beverages is producing the drink which contains 280 milligrams of caffeine. According to the company's website, the only way to get more caffeine per ounce is with an espresso.
Mr Raynes added: "The fact is that subliminally, it is making the image of drug use cool and that's what kids what to be, cool.
"Kids will be drinking Cocaine and will inevitably link the two. The drink is relatively innocuous, but they will be linking it with cocaine use and the market, which is far from innocuous."
Dr Charles O'Brien, a professor and vice chairman of psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, said: "It's just a bad idea and has all the same downsides of too much caffeine plus a very bad name."
The company has received inquiries about selling Cocaine in Britain and throughout Europe. At the moment it is being sold only in the Los Angeles and New York metropolitan areas - mainly to teenagers.

KNORK
September 19, 2006
Not even Tokyu Hands has this one....
Better than the SPORK
Its the KNORK......

The Knork's unique functional and structural abilities are due to its design. This improved universal fork is a combination of the particular functions and characteristics of a knife and fork. With its balanced handle and enlarged end, the Knork provides a greater surface which is able to fit and press against the palm of the user's hand providing stability and comfort when using the tool as a knife.
The Knork's® finger platform provides comfort for cutting The head is comprised of both outer and inner fork tines. The inner fork tines have a shape consistent with a typical fork that is commonly used but the outer tines have increased width. The outer curved edges may be dull, intentionally sharpened, or serrated. Its curved outer edges provide increased cutting capability through a unique rocking motion.
The handle's balanced and smooth contour also features a finger platform flanking both sides which allows a person to press one or more fingers against the side of the fork for comfort when cutting. This also allows the Knork to be used by persons having either a right-handed or left-handed orientation.
The Knork has the potential to be offered to travelers on commercial carriers during mealtime, with a limited concern about it being converted into a weapon when constructed out of plastic or a similar material. The narrowed tine ends will break off under shearing pressure which limits the potential of it being used as a pointed weapon and dulls it as to future use.
The Knork is also beneficial to persons having motor skill disabilities, use of only a single hand or any The Knork® provides all aspects of both a fork and knife as a single utensil situation where the use of a fork and knife are impossible. In such a situation, the enlarged handle allows easier gripping and provides all aspects of both a fork and knife as a single utensil. The finger platform allows the user to be more readily accessible to cutting food.

Eric B and Rakim
Follow the Leader

Follow me into a solo
Get in the flow - and you can picture like a photo
Music mixed mellow maintains to make
Melodies for MC's motivates the breaks
I'm everlastin, I can go on for days and days
With rhyme displays that engrave deep as X-rays
I can take a phrase that's rarely heard, FLIP IT
Now it's a daily word

I can get iller than 'Nam, a killin bomb
But no alarm - Rakim will remain calm
Self-esteem make me super superb and supreme
But for a microphone still I fiend
This was a tape I wasn't supposed to break
I was supposed to wait, but let's motivate
I want to see who can keep followin and swallowin
Takin the making, bitin it and borrowin

Brothers tried and others died to get the formula
But I'ma let ya sweat - you still ain't warm
You a step away from frozen, stiff as if ya posin
Dig into my brain as the rhyme gets chosen
So follow me and were ya thinkin' you were first?
Let's travel at magnificent speeds around the Universe

What could ya say as the Earth gets further and further away
Planets are small as balls of clay
Astray into the Milky Way - world's outasight
Far as the eye can see - not even a satellite
Now stop and turn around and look
As ya stare in the darkness, ya knowledge is took!
So keep starin soon ya suddenly see a star
You better follow it cause it's the R
This is a lesson if ya guessin and if ya borrowin
Hurry hurry step right up and keep followin
The Leader

This is a lifetime mission, vision of prison
Aight listen
In this journey you're the journal I'm the journalist
Am I Eternal? Or an eternalist?
I'm about to flow long as I can possibly go
Keep ya movin cause the crowd said so
Dance - cuts rip ya pants
Eric B on the blades, bleedin to death - call the ambulance
Pull out my weapon and start to squeeze
A magnum as a microphone murderin' MC's
Let's quote a rhyme from a record I wrote
(follow the leader) Yeah - dope

Cause everytime I stop it seems ya stuck
Soon as ya try to step off ya self-destruct
I came to overcome before I'm gone
By showin and provin and lettin knowledge be born
Then after that I'll live forever - you disagree?
You say never? Then follow me!
From century to century you'll remember me
In history - not a mystery or a memory...

Wow, its cool to skate....And design tees....And???????
September 3, 2006
A few months ago Adbusters did a piece on Skake shoes and a large company that makes them.
I read it twice and still do not understand the point of the article. Then the NYTimes magazine wrote an article about cool and revolutionary tee shirt companies. That was kinda strange as well.
Now the LAtimes has written a story called, "Ride sharing: In skateboard rap, hip-hop mashes up with another street culture." I dont know what is odder at this juncture? The validation of these worlds, or the poor journalism in which they are penned??? I have my opinions about all three of these articles and soon i will write them, but for now check out how late the LA Times actually is. I hope they write a bit quicker when it comes to bigger issues.

Supremely original
September 1, 2006

Long before Soho became inundated with shops and places to eat, it was a haven for artists, galleries and studios. In the Mid to late eighties a movement came out of that situation called Neo Geo, its main gallery was Sonnabend on West Broadway and its most interesting artist was Jeff Koons. Of course Peter Halley, Ashley Bickerton were both very intriguing and great, but it was Koons who truly and still has maintained a fascinating dialogue with popular culture, materialism and the great post modern dialogue between High and Low. Koons appropriation of everyday objects such, as inflatable toys, vacuum cleaners and basketballs have been both controversial and intriguing for over twenty years.

Jeff Koons has danced around the boundaries of culture and context for his entire career.
Now once more the game is on. Labor day not only marks the end of summer but the question of what will Supreme do next????? For this Fall Supreme has worked with Jeff
Koons on a new series of skateboard decks. And again we must ask ourselves, should I skate or should I place these decks on my wall? The Pomo debate is still on. Happy thinking…Or skating…
