The tour with no movement

"My car became my home."
Weegee

When one thinks of a tour, an image of travel and flux come too mind. In a photo,
the world stops for a moment only starting again when the picture lives on in the mind and memory or the viewer. The relation between photographer and photograph and photograph and viewer changes from that moment on. Photographs document a world in passing, freezing time for a tiny duration. The photographer holds the camera still, attempting to frame a representation of their gaze. This image is then sealed in a process creating a photograph.

But what happens when the point of view is not static? What happens when the world is captured from the eyes and standpoint of photographer on wheels?
The world is not a blur. However, it is a pause in a poetic journey thru space and time. Skateboarders see the city as an unusual place of possibilities and things to try.
Every wall, bench and handrail becomes a new possibility. Another place to define, examine and mark with the grace of a maneuver all you own. The only trace is the memory of the action.
The photographs of Tanaka "RIP" Tomonori explores the lapse between the world and the position of a photographer in motion always on tour, only leaving behind the still frame that will move again when we think back that it happened once before in his world gone by.
